About | What this site is

Hi there and welcome.

This site was born of my own frustrations when trying to figure out what songs were stuck in my head.

I listen to a lot of music. And a lot of the times, I just add songs to my playlists without ever paying attention to the name or artist. So sometimes (read: many times), I have a loop of some catchy section of a song playing in my head that I really want to go back and listen to - but there's not exactly a "Shazam for your brain" out there. Usually, I can only remember a few words of the song at most. (I have the MUSIC stuck in my head, not the words!)

The Major Problem is this: With just a few words to go by, a direct Google search often yields... hot garbage. You get so many irrelevant search results, especially so if the lyrics are generic. I'd know that it was a song somewhere in my playlists, but it could be something I had added either in the past week - or the past year. The only way I could find it was by combing through all my playlists. One. Song. At. A. Time.

I'd probably spent way too much time doing this over the years, and I wanted a solution. What I came up with was the core feature of this website: A Personal Lyric Database. I knew that if the songs were something I'd already saved (just lost among the sea of playlists and tracks), I could just download the lyrics to ALL the songs I'd saved, and accurately narrow down my search. The hard part was figuring out how to do that.

Well I eventually figured it out. It was such a game changer, that I wanted to use it everywhere - not just on my local computer - so I made a site out of it. And in the process, I thought that maybe other people could use it to search their own playlists. And so...

Here it is. A Reverse Lyric Search Engine that anybody can use to find their own playlisted songs. Cuts out the noise of generic search engines, and is tailored directly to your tastes. Enjoy!
